An overview of educational considerations for students with special needs related to literacy. Emphasis on identifying preferred literacy activities and embedding opportunities for literacy instruction throughout the school. Several researched based strategies for literacy instruction will be explored. Various methods for assessing literacy gains and instructional impact will be examined. Candidates will be required to engage in field based instructional activities. Candidates will participate in cohort meetings throughout the semester.
